Have you got a new puppy? Would you like it to
become a well mannered companion that is calm in
the house, sleeps through the night, walks nicely
on the lead and comes back when you call it? The
content qualifies the puppy for the Kennel Club
Puppy Foundation Assessment and is awarded based on
attendance (a minimum of 4 sessions) rather than on
passing a formal test.
In our puppy classes we will help you to achieve
these goals as well as early socialization with
other breeds and people.
We have a maximum of six puppies in each class to
ensure that we can give each team individual
attention as well as making sure that the play is
supervised to prevent bullying and mobbing.
Each lesson last an hour, the course fee is £59- /6 week.
Course dates :
The next courses will start in September, 2008.
Content:
In these sessions we will show and explain you how
to teach your puppy to become the perfect
companion. We will teach you to read and understand
your puppy's body language and how to communicate
with your puppy in a good way. We will explain how
to socialise and habituate your puppy to enable
them to become well balanced and confident dogs.
With our small classe sizes there is enough time to
discuss individual problems and we will give you
advice on how to deal with the puppy's
(mis-)behaviours such as biting, mouthing, chewing,
housetraining, etc.
Exercises:
In the six week course we will explain and guide
you and your puppy through the basic exercises:
- Walking on the lead
- Coming when called
- Greeting people without jumping up
- Down
- Stay
- Leaving food
- Getting used to handling, grooming and Vet
treatments
- To play with their owners
- To play fair with other puppies
- To settle and calm down after an exciting play or
exercise
In addition to these exercises and controlled play
rounds we will also help you to understand and
overcome some of the problem behaviours with your
puppy such as mouthing, house training, etc.
Methods:
The approach we promote is
motivating the puppy and building an affectionate
relationship between the puppy and its owner. We
use the most advanced, scientifically proven, kind
and effective, training, handling, communication
techniques such as Lure- Reward and Clicker
Training.
Suitable for:
These classes are suitable for
puppies 2-5 months old (when the vaccinations are
completed) and all their owners.
Children are most welcome to accompany their
parents but please make sure it is always only one
person training the puppy at a time to avoid
confusion.
There will be a maximum of 6 puppies in each class
to ensure quality of training and socialisation
What to bring:
Your puppy should wear
preferably a harness or a plain collar, please no
choke collars!
Please bring some of the puppy's normal food as
well as some tasty treats with you.
Also bring the puppies bed or a blanket with you to
help the puppy relax and settle in the class
